Job Description:
Under the direction of the Chief Operator, the Waste Water Treatment Technician assists in the operation of the Water Purification Plant as needed. This includes performing opening and closing tasks for the Waste Water Purification Plant, checking the plant and observing conditions to determine that the plant is operating properly, cleaning the head works and cyclone de-gritter system, the laboratory and the belt press, collecting grab and composite samples, ability to PM and calibrate ph and DO probes, and receiving chemicals from chemical tankers to chemical tanks within the plant, receives wastewater delivered by outside venders and pumps or transfers into proper tankage. Performs routine lab analyses as required. Must be able to operate small amphidrome package plant, sample and complete monthly reports. Must be able to respond to emergency situations at the facility. Incumbent is required to fill in for the Chief Operator's absence. As a member of HPWS, the incumbent is required to demonstrate leadership skills and participate on cross-functional teams to achieve oganizational objectives.

Qualifications:
REQUIRED:
-18+ years of age
-High School Diploma or GED
-Valid grade 6 waste water operator's license
-2+ years Waste Water Treatment experience
-Strong verbal and written communication skills
-Ability to read, write and comprehend technical equipment manuals as well as functional, leadership, and safety standards/documents.
-Willingness and motivation to learn and maintain high quality laboratory standards.
-Desire to learn the operations of grade 6 treatment facility with a high degree of competence.
-Ability to comprehend and complete assignments thoroughly with strong detail orientation.
-Must be able to learn and become certified as fork truck driver
-Must be able to climb stairs/ladders several times daily including climbing to load tankers.
-Good hand/eye coordination.
-Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and ability to work both inside and outside in a variety of weather.
-Ability to comply with all accident prevention safety programs and wear required PPE.
